Couple in their late 40s finds love and companionship online

Status: Engaged.

Linda and Bruce met on Match.com about three years ago. Both in their late 40s, they were looking for love, post divorce. It took a couple months for them to develop a strong bond. After about a year of dating, they got engaged. Each has children, nearing independence, and they plan to marry in 2009, after Linda's youngest is out of high school.

What she liked best about online dating
Linda says, "I liked the opportunity to meet a lot of men without having to make any commitments to them -- even just to talk. It was sort of like shopping. I also liked that they and I could "wink" (an informal Match.com way of expressing interest) at each other...it made me feel good when someone thought they might like to get to know me better."

eHarmony vs Match
Linda explained that she began her online dating journey on eHarmony, at the urging of a colleague, a couple months prior to signing up on Match.com. "My friend and I tried it together, as something to keep us busy over Independence Day 2005. I did that for a while, but found that I was being matched with fellows who didn't really jive with me. I could not figure out what I said on the survey to make that happen. So after a couple months I got on Match.com. I liked that better because I was in more control of who I talked with." Within a few weeks she met Bruce.

Couple finds love online, builds new life together...and baby makes 3!

Status: Married since 2005 with a new baby boy.

Amy and Johnny also met on Match.com. They found each other in 2002, dated for more than two years, and then were married in 2005. Now in their early 30s, the couple just celebrated the birth of their first child, a boy named Quinn.

Why did they chose online dating?
Simply put, Amy says, "I wasn't into the bar scene and wanted to find a great guy to spend time with." Johnny was also tired of the bar scene and admitted that he wasn't meeting the right kind of women at the late-night hot spots, at least not the ones he was interested in for a serious relationship.

"We weren't planning or looking to get married," says Johnny. Yet they both wanted to find a special person to date, and here they are six years later, married with a baby boy. "It's been an amazing journey. We are so thankful!"
