50s with an active lifestyle

Married in Florida just after the New Year in 2008. Donna and Brian celebrate life and love, but this match almost didn't happen.

Brian's grown daughter encouraged him to go online, but since he was not computer savvy, she posted a photo and profile for him. She also helped write email correspondence and even did some of the initial pre-screening for her dad. After showing her father a few interesting prospects, Brian's daughter went on vacation for a week. It was during that time that Donna had spotted his profile and immediately sent him an email expressing interest. When her email was met with no response for several days, Donna assumed he wasn't interested or had found someone else. She sent him one last email to wish him well.

Brian knew how to open email on his own, and saw Donna's farewell note. That's when he panicked! He couldn't type unless one finger, hunting and pecking counted. To the contrary, Brian was VERY interested in Donna's profile and wanted to get to know her better. He desperately called his family and friends, and finally got a friend to come over that evening to help him compose an email back to her. Admitting he wasn't very comfortable using the computer, Brian said he would struggle through it if Donna felt more comfortable communicating via email. But he also provided his phone number, as an alternative. She called immediately. Phew! Brian was relieved and thankful not to have to type.

Talking on the phone reveals so much about a person
That first phone call lasted more than two hours. Both Brian and Donna highly recommend using the telephone to get to know one someone before meeting in person. "You can really tell a lot about someone by her tone of voice, her attitude, and what you talk about," Brian said. The pair "phone dated" each night for about two weeks, and then met in person. They have been nearly inseparable even since.

Donna and Brian are active adults in their 50s and enjoy the outdoors, and working together (Brian is a master craftsman and builds houses), as well as cooking and entertaining. Together they have five grandchildren and enjoy spending time with their families. The pair is looking forward to retirement together in the next few years and plan to move to Florida.
